April 2022
First Nature Notes

Dear Friends of First Nature Foundation,

We’ve been quite lucky with our spring weather most of this month, with mostly drier, cooler days. Earlier this month, though, we were drenched, particularly on the day of our Grand Opening, April 2nd. The forecast was pretty awful, and indeed, during the exact hours of our event there was hail, high winds, and torrential rain. Fortunately, about half those who had planned to come actually did show up (thank you!!). It was a fun event, and now we are thinking about another event to get to the ranch those for whom the weather that evening was too high a barrier. The weather has made our flower and herb gardens happy, though.

Clients love our playshops and want to sign up more of their staff, so we are working on how to add more people per playshop to our Horseplay for Leaders, especially our soon-to-be-piloted “Using Conflict Productively in Teamwork” advanced module. We have another appointment set up to discuss schedule our Leading For Change For Teens for girls in the Central Florida foster care system with Embrace Families, a local . The veterans are totally loving our Horse Wisdom for Heroes program, and they have 2 more sessions in this pilot cohort.

Welcome and a hearty thank you to our new sponsors! Narcoossee Feed and Hardware, Inc. our horse feed vendor, and Animal Care Trust, USA. We are looking for monthly donors and also sponsors for continuing this program for new cohorts and also expanding the program for veteran graduates with one-off events, such as horticultural therapy. Or consider becoming a monthly donor or a sponsor for our PASOS grief support group, a twice monthly virtual meeting which serves those who have lost a spouse or child to suicide.

As you can see we have been busy helping different audiences increase their self-leadership and their shared leadership skills through our various programs. Might you consider helping us build more regular revenue to continue offering these programs?

Here’s a link to donate (click on the “make this a monthly donation” link when you get there).

Do you know any groups or experts who might want to run a program or two or hold an event at the ranch now that we are starting to actually schedule them? We are willing to consider hosting events at the ranch, as long as there is some kind of alignment with our mission. I’d be happy to give you a private individual tours. Please contact me at kerul@firstnaturefoundation.org or message me on Facebook to set up a time.
