First Nature Notes -Spoiler Alert! We Survived the Hurricane!

Dear Friends of First Nature Foundation,

This month we graduated our second cohort of veterans in the Horse Wisdom for Heroes program. We are currently analyzing the data from the assessments they completed at the start and finish of the program and will report the outcomes in next month’s newsletter. Thank you to the staff, volunteers, and sponsors who so generously helped us with this program. We are in the process of scheduling our next cohort of veterans in our Horse Wisdom for Heroes program for early October.

We also hosted our second Appreciation Day of the year. The popsicles and ice cream hand-crafted by our incredible Promotional Director, Allyn Carnahan, were amazing, and the day was fun, lively, and sweet…literally and figuratively! We take appreciation of not only our donors and sponsors, but also our fantastic staff and wonderful volunteers, all of whom were invited to the event. We’ll have the photos from the event back from our professional photographer soon and will share them on our website and social media.

As I write this we are waiting for the worst effects of Hurricane Ian. As they say, waiting for this hurricane is like being stalked by a turtle! While earlier in the week the track took it much further west, in the last couple of days it has shifted our way. We are currently under a Tornado Watch for the rest of the day, and the forecast calls for 12” or more before the hurricane is done with us. This morning the forecast showed the storm should weaken over land so it’s “just” a category 1 – versus the category 4 that’s due to hit the gulf coast – but the winds and rain will be high. By the time you read this it will likely have moved away and I hope to report that all went well.

The photo below is from the day before the hurricane came through central Florida.

And we are looking for new board members! If you have some financial expertise to help guide our budgeting decisions, or are well-connected in our region to help create more visibility for our nonprofit, we would LOVE to talk to you! Just reply to this email. If this is your first newsletter and you’re not really sure what we are about, check out this recent video.

You can be a huge help to us by doing one simple thing: pass this newsletter on to others who might be interested in what we are doing. You can also share our social media posts! And always feel free to click respond and let us know if you are aware of any groups or experts who might want to run a program or two here at First Nature Ranch.

As always, I am happy to offer a private individual tours! We think the best way to see if FNF is the right fit is to actually see the facility! Please share my information with those you think might be interested: kerul@firstnaturefoundation.org or message me on Facebook to set up a time.
